As a member of the Conference Committee, you will organize the yearly Conference. The Conference is a formal event in which a specific theme will be addressed both corporately and scientifically. The theme of the Conference is applicable to all three facets of our study, being econometrics, actuarial studies and operations research. Apart from lectures, companies visit the Conference to offer the students challenging cases.
As chairman of the Conference Committee, you will guide the committee in the right direction. You will have to consider whether all committee members are carrying out their tasks and what still needs to be done to organize the Conference. You lead the meetings, make the agenda’s and set the deadlines for the whole committee. Next to that, you will have contact with the board and keep them up to date with what is going on.
As the treasurer of the Conference Committee, you are responsible for the financial matters surrounding the Conference. This means that you will be responsible for both the budget and realization. For example, within the budget and realization, you will have to take into account the participation fee, the price of the location, the lunch and the dinner afterwards. You will also fulfill the function Secretary, which means that you will be responsible for the contact with the participants and making the minutes of the meetings of the committee.
As a Day Coordinator of the Conference Committee, you are responsible for choosing the location and keeping in touch with the location. In addition, you take care of the planning and script of the event. This means that you work out what certain committee members should do during the event, how much time is available for everything and where all cases will be given.
As External Affairs of the Conference Committee, you are responsible for contact with companies. After choosing which companies and speakers might be interesting for your event, you will approach them to get them to speak or give a case at your event. You keep in touch with interested companies by emailing and calling recruiters and keep them informed about the Conference.
As a Marketing Officer of the Conference Committee, you are responsible for all the promotion of the event. For example, you make a plan with which promotion will take place and at which time, what kind of promotional stunt will be done, but you will also have to promote tactically on all social media. In addition, you can also come up with an epic gadget of the Conference so that people will often think about your event.
The Conference of 2023 will be organized by Angela Karam (Chairman), Ole Colenbrander (Secretary/Treasurer), Roos Speel (Day Coordinator), Bart Koopmans (External Affairs) and Martijn kamphof (Marketing Officer).
